How L-Theanine Works

Need to relax? L-theanine is the amino acid you need! It is great for anxiety and stress, soothing the mind without creating drowsiness (1), making it ideal for high-pressure situations where you need to be on top form.

Baba et al. showed that l-theanine can improve memory and reaction times (2). Their study looked at older test subjects, as cognitive function is known to decline as we age. The results were very positive and recommended l-theanine for situations where close attention is needed.

There is also evidence that L-Theanine can boost the immune system (3) and can enhance the effect of chemotherapy drugs (4).


Where is L-Theanine Derived

L-Theanine is readily available in tea leaves, with the highest concentration in green teas (6). It can also be found in some bolete mushrooms. It is more concentrated in supplement form, so you get the most benefit this way.


When to take L-Theanine

Some people believe that L-Theanine is at its best first thing in the morning. Giving you that energy boost you need first thing, so you feel great all day long.
